What you’ll do during the Tenuta Meraviglia Panoramic Bolgheri Tour
Book the Tenuta Meraviglia Panoramic Bolgheri Wine Tour and you’ll embark on a journey into the mesmerizing world of Bolgheri.
A unique place held in high regard by connoisseurs around the world for its fine wines.
On this Bolgheri wine tasting tour, we’ll explore one of the magical places in the area. Tenuta Meraviglia overlooks the sea from the hills, nestled in an astonishing natural setting. Bolgheri is not just one of the world’s best terroirs, it stands for something more that touches your heart and leaves you craving more.
Tenuta Meraviglia boasts a strategic position in this idyllic setting. Next to its “twin” winery Tenuta Le Colonne, the estate’s vineyards are those closest to the sea anywhere in the appellation, a short distance from the beach, before sweeping up to I Pianali (150 metres above sea level), ruffled by the sea breeze and nourished by sandy volcanic soil. Fine wines are the result of this happy marriage, in which balance blends with character.
Leave your car in the estate’s large parking lot by the Tenuta Le Colonne gate, along the Via Aurelia, in front of the hospitality building.
On this Bolgheri tour, our guides will welcome you to the Tenuta Le Colonne wine shop.
The Bolgheri tour begins with an introduction to our company philosophy based on sustainable viticulture, in which respect for the land and vines are the starting point to achieve wines that are a genuine expression of the terroir.
You’ll discover the soil composition in our vineyards: sandy volcanic soil at the highest point and sandy fluvial soil lower down close to the sea, with truly unique characteristics not just for Bolgheri but for Tuscany too.
The visit continues in the cellar where you’ll find the same natural approach to winemaking: soft pressing, native yeast and delicate fermentation in special concrete vats. The wine ages in large, untoasted French oak barrels, which goes against the grain for traditional Bolgheri winemaking, to preserve and promote the aromas and flavours of the grapes and produce elegant, immaculate and refreshing wines.
At the end of the tour you’ll be escorted in a jeep to the ‘I Pianali’, at the highest point on the Tenuta Meraviglia estate, winding your way through our verdant vineyards and the Mediterranean shrub surrounding the property.
There you’ll have the chance to enjoy a unique Bolgheri tasting. Our staff will escort you to the wooden terrace nestled in a striking position with views from the verdant vineyards and maritime pine trees to the sandy beach and the blue expanse between the Piombino headland and the Tuscan islands.
The wines of Tenuta Meraviglia will be served by this panorama while comfortably seated at wooden tables. The tasting includes Vermentino Bolgheri DOC and Rosato Bolgheri DOC, followed by two reds, Bolgheri DOC and Bolgheri DOC Superiore ‘Maestro di Cava’, accompanied by traditional Tuscan snacks. Savour the savoury freshness of Vermentino and the perfume of Viognier for the white wine; the mineral nuances and fruity and floral notes of the Rosato; the ripeness and elegance of Bolgheri Rosso; and the structure, intensity and endurance of Bolgheri Rosso Superiore.
