What you’ll do during the Poggio Landi Wine Tasting
If you’d like to savour the biodiversity of Montalcino in a glass and discover Sangiovese in its most classic expression, don’t miss the chance to book the Poggio Landi Wine Tasting at our winery. Take part in a Montalcino wine tasting in an airy space that lets you enjoy the terroir surrounded by the scenery and scents of Tuscany at its most natural.
Like a jewel set amid the green hills of the Crete Senesi and Val d’Orcia, our modern and welcoming winery welcomes you with its scenic terrace, where you can admire the endless views, and the new wine shop, where you can unwind while tasting our Brunello di Montalcino.
Before arriving, driving along the typical gravel road lined with cypress trees, realization dawns that you’re entering a magical land. This is the perfect place for a Montalcino tour by bike or on foot with a stop at a winery surrounded by quiet greenery.
Our guide will explain the characteristics of the area, which isn’t vast but rich all the same, hence precious for winemaking. You’ll be introduced to soil types, the various geological composition, the different altitudes and exposures where our vineyards grow in harmony with the surrounding nature to produce fine wines. Our production process reflects the biodiversity and the natural and sustainable approach shared by all the estates belonging to the ABVF (Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards) Italy group. Our production philosophy involves working the land to ensure constant fertility and to instil a natural balance in the vines. This criterion is also applied during fermentation (we don’t use selected yeast, just the native yeast naturally present in our grapes) and ageing, which takes place in large Allier French oak barrels in order to preserve and enhance the traits of the terroir. All these factors enable you to taste the land you see all around in the glass.
For this Montalcino tasting you’ll have the chance to choose the striking ambience of our panoramic terrace or the cozy indoors of our modern and welcoming wine shop. Our staff will guide you through the tasting of three Poggio Landi wines. You’ll start with the youngest and fruitiest expression of Sangiovese, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, an easy-drinking wine that reveals unique aromas and flavours with the first sip. Then it’s the turn of Brunello di Montalcino, regarded as the “king” of this land, a full-bodied wine with complex aromas due to the long refinement in large barrels. Last but not least, a special occasion wine of formidable elegance, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, which leaves you in ecstasy in a crescendo of emotions.
During this Montalcino wine tasting at Poggio Landi, where you can glimpse medieval Montalcino and Renaissance Pienza, you’ll not only have the chance to delight your palate with the unique flavours of our fine wines, but also to savour the famous local cheeses from nearby Pienza and the quality extra-virgin olive oils made by our sister company Dievole, which are famous all over the world for their excellence.
